September 17, 2010 – Enjoying their popularity, EBSCO has announced that the University of Liverpool has selected EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) as its discovery solution. This comes just following the announcement that Indiana University had also joined their client list.

We found this news in InfoTech’s article, “University of Liverpool Chooses EBSCO Discovery Service(TM).”  The University was looking to offer a search tool that would take its users from their initial search into pertinent results via a single search box. To the librarians at the University of Liverpool, issues that would have to be overcome included defining and communicating what the service was searching and what it wasn’t, making sure the metadata was sufficiently structured to make reliable OpenURL links, and finding a balanced way to treat relevancy ranking algorithms.

Machine assisted indexing can be a huge help, especially when used in conjunction with a well-constructed taxonomy that is designed to meet your organization’s needs. Choose the right professionals to provide taxonomy services and help you manage your content.
