January 19, 2011 – We all know that technology is changing daily and it is hard for us in the profession to stay abreast of new challenges and solutions. But what about the teachers? Teachers in college, teachers in high school, and even teachers in elementary school face the same challenge to stay technologically current after creating and preparing classroom activities and assessing students’ learning.

MMD Newswire brought this interesting topic to our attention in their article, “Importance of Technology in Education – This Week’s Topic on the Gateway to 21st Century Skills.” We often think of schools in terms of libraries of information just waiting for the picking. However, with students’ use of technology outside of the classroom exploding, the bar is raised for the use of technology within the classroom,  as an important component for student engagement. Teachers are turning to collaboration tools such as wikis, blogs, learning management systems, and custom social networks. So cataloging and indexing that information just became ever so important. It is shaping our future leaders.
