February 10, 2011 – According to the USA.gov for Science site, “THOMAS Has Been Added to the Basic Search!” This newest addition to the Science.gov database provides legislative information from the Library of Congress. Legislation from both the 112th Congress (2011-2012) and the 111th Congress (2009-2010) is available.
The alert results provide information about bills and amendments on the selected topic, including sponsor(s); cosponsor(s); official, short and popular titles; floor/executive actions; detailed legislative history; Congressional Record page references; bill summaries; committees of referral; reporting and origin; subcommittees of referral; links to other committee information provided by the House of Representatives; amendment descriptions (and text, when available); subjects (indexing terms assigned to each bill); a link to the full text versions and whether the bill has been enacted into law, a link to the full text of the law on the Government Printing Office web site (in both text and PDF formats)…whew!
Nice to see our government providing some transparency as well as using authentic and well proven indexing and cataloging processes.
