March 2, 2011 – The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) and the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) have announced they will be continuing their educational partnership in 2011 with three joint webinars on topics related to metadata, linked data, and RDA vocabularies.

The first webinar in the series is scheduled for March 26, 2011 on the topic of Metadata Harmonization: Making Standards Work Together. Featured speakers are Mikael Nilsson, a PhD in media technology from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and Thomas Baker, Chief Information Officer of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative.

The second webinar on International Bibliographic Standards, Linked Data, and the Impact on Library Cataloging will take place on August 24, 2011.

The third, The RDA Vocabularies: Implementation, Extension, and Mapping, will take place on November 16, 2011.

Each of the webinars in the series will take place from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. (Eastern time). Registration fees for the event are $89 for US- or Canadian-based members of NISO or DCMI and $104 for international members. Non-members of either organization can register for $119 for U.S. and Canadian registrants and $144 for international registrants.
