China is fast becoming a global leader in scientific publishing and scientific research. Papers with authors from China now represent 6.6 % of the 3,425 papers published in Nature journals in 2011. This is up from 5.3 percent in 2010.

This interesting news was found on Knowledgespeak in their article, “China set to become global leader in science publishing, according to Nature index.” By 2014, it is possible that China could surpass Germany and the UK, who currently hold second and third places. The United States leads the world, but has experienced a drop from 64.3% to 50.7%.

There has been a lot of talk about publishing of late. Regardless of where the content is coming from, how are they indexing it and storing it so it can be accessed with ease and accuracy? Access Innovations’ Data Harmony suite of content enrichment and thesaurus management tools can be fully integrated with Microsoft SharePoint 2010. Data Harmony fills semantic gaps in SharePoint to help users take full advantage of their metadata through auto-classification, enterprise taxonomy management, entity extraction, and search enhancements. The end result is information assets that are more searchable and more accessible.
