The U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), in collaboration with Boston University School of Medicine has announced the launch of the Health Literacy Tool Shed. This interesting news came from the Library Journal in their article, “Reference: National Library of Medicine Releases New Health Literacy Tool Shed Website.”

The Health Literacy Tool Shed is a free, user-friendly, curated online database of more than 100 empirically validated health literacy instruments. It serves as an interactive, one-stop shop where researchers use provided filters to select a health literacy research instrument.

With any database project, it is important to remember the value of a solid taxonomy. How the content is classified impacts the findability of your data. Professionals should look for an experienced builder of solid standards-based taxonomies to associate content for appropriate machine-assisted indexing. Access Innovations can provide solutions that are ANSI compliant.
