IEEE is the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology. So it isn’t surprising that they are working with publishing organizations to create recommendations regarding best practices to help ensure technical conference content quality. This interesting news came to us from Knowledge Speak in their article, “IEEE, Elsevier and the Institution of Engineering and Technology join together to create recommendations regarding best practices.”

The goal of the recommendations is to bring forward best practices that will help to ensure that high-quality, scholarly conference content continues to be developed, published, and disseminated within the global information community.

Last fall, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) endorsed the White Paper on Ensuring Conference Content Quality, co-authored by Elsevier, IEEE, and the Institute on Engineering and Technology (IET). In addition, ASCE contributed new content to the paper regarding its subject-matter scope and best practices in technical program development
