Standards are key to successful records management program. The consistency that comes with compliance creates an environment of success. Federal News Radio brought this news to our attention in their article, “Records management should create ‘data environment to facilitate collaboration’.”
Data management and records management are almost the same thing. Records are preserved due to the usefulness of the data they contain, and managed in order to make them searchable. It is a linear process. It is important to optimize the data environment to be managed such that decisions can be made and situational awareness can be achieved as rapidly as possible.
The human part in this process is critical. Creating a data environment to facilitate collaboration, capture data context and enable knowledge transfer is the goal.
