In a time when libraries are often considered archaic and outdated, it is refreshing to see educational facilities invest in the future of the library. This interesting information came to us from the Grand Rapids Business Journal in their article, “College hires dean of libraries.”

Grand Valley State University has hired a new dean of university libraries. Annie Bélanger will assume the responsibilities of dean of university libraries, which will focus mainly on strategic leadership for university libraries at scale, as well as program and resource development.

The University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) recently named a new dean of libraries as well. Dr. Martin Halbert has been appointed dean of UNCG University Libraries.

Appalachian State University also recently named Dr. Dane Ward as dean of libraries. University libraries at Appalachian State University contribute to the campus mission of learning, teaching, advancing knowledge, engagement and effectiveness.

Libraries have never been known for great public relations. Whenever an opportunity comes around that helps them broaden their reach and accomplishments, we like to share it.
