The powerful combination of data and artificial intelligence (AI) is finding new ground to cover and quite frankly, conquer. Many health care entrepreneurs are focused on this combination to lower the cost of care while making it better and available to more people. Newsweek brought this interesting information to us in their article, “How Artificial Intelligence Will Cure America’s Sick Health Care System.”
Technology has always made things different, mostly for the better, both in performance and cost efficiency. Phones, laptops and the Internet are a few examples. Health care has progressed, but the results have rarely made things more economical. Health care is an alternate universe where technology makes everything more expensive and more complex.
New startups are applying AI, floods of data and automation in ways that promise to dramatically reduce the costs of health care while increasing effectiveness. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and how it might affect the political aspect of health care reform.
