The Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) will be hosting their 80th annual meeting on October 27-November 1, 2017.

This annual meeting is the premier international conference dedicated to the study of information, people, and technology in contemporary society. They gather leading scholars and practitioners from around the globe to share innovations, ideas, research, and insights into the state and future of information and communication in play, work, governance, and society.

ASIS&T has an established record of pushing the boundaries of information studies, exploring core concepts and ideas, and creating new technological and conceptual configurations — all situated in interdisciplinary discourses.

One of the many exciting workshops this year is Standards and Best Practices Related to the Publication, Exchange, and Usage of Open Data, which will be a panel discussion. The panel aims to update ASIS&T members and information professionals about important standards, specifications, and best practice guidelines that have been developed or initiated by the international standards institutions and communities in dealing with open data. Access Innovation’s Marjorie Hlava will be one of the members of the panel, along with Marcia Zeng, Jane Greenberg, and Mark Needleman.
