A new web-based, searchable directory of health applications is being released to the 800+ general practitioners in Tasmania that will allow them to prescribe digital health solutions for patients electronically. This interesting information came to us from Pulse +IT in their article, “Prescription for digital health: guide to health apps for general practices.”
Digital health solutions are offered in a variety of ways through health applications. Developed by Sydney digital health consulting firm Semantic Consulting in association with Hobart software developer Healthcare Software on behalf of the Tasmanian PHN, the Digital Health Guide includes hundreds of apps along with information about each app’s published evidence base, condition or disease target, pricing model, capabilities and the various ratings assigned by other healthcare providers and reviewers.
It could easily be viewed as a library of health applications that can increase patient engagement and broaden patients’ roles in their own health care. Some prescriptions are technical rather than medicinal.
