The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently announced they were breaking ground on a new data center in Pocatello, Idaho.

This comes as a milestone in the efforts to consolidate and optimize their Data Center infrastructure, information, and services. This broadly focused multi-year IT transformation will strengthen cybersecurity for all Department of Justice components that will utilize the facility.

There are other benefits as well, such as improved collaboration, the sharing of information, and increased ability to execute advanced analytics, while decreasing overall operational costs. This project is expected to consolidate and optimize dozens of data centers, infrastructure, information and services. They also anticipate hiring upwards of 350 employees for the new facility.

The Pocatello FBI center provides telecommunications and database support for agency field services throughout the country. It originally opened in Idaho in 1985. The new facility is expected to open in early 2019.
