September 21, 2010 – The Web Indexing Special Interest Group of the American Society for Indexing annually awards a deserving indexer the annual Web Indexing SIG Award for excellence in web site indexing. This is done to encourage high quality web site indexes and to promote the web indexing work of professional indexers. Surprisingly, there were no 2010 winners “due to a lack of quality submissions.”
In 2009, Mary Russell from Australia received the award and Rebecca Linford from Scotland placed first in 2008, with Michael Unwalla from the UK placing second.
It makes you wonder why there was no winner since we all know there are many quality indexing projects happening out there. I suppose they can’t be considered if they aren’t submitted.
