Machine learning is a method of data analysis that automates analytical model building. It is a branch of artificial intelligence based on the idea that systems can learn from data, identify patterns and make decisions with minimal human intervention. This interesting topic came to us from Verdict in their article, “What is machine learning and why does it matter for business?”
As far as business goes, machine learning allows machines to learn by using algorithms to interpret data from connected things to make predictions. Many predictive data models or software platforms that analyse behavioral data. Many start-ups have taken machine learning and applied it to specific industry verticals, such as detecting bank fraud or preventing a cyber-attack.
While many machine learning algorithms have been around for a long time, the ability to automatically apply complex mathematical calculations to big data – over and over, faster and faster – is a recent development.
