Instem has released version 8.4 of its Sequence Retrieval System (SRS). This data integration platform is scalable and used in over 300 sites, both commercial and academic. Version 8.4 includes support for indexing data using Apache Lucene technology. A new joint initiative launched by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) will help researchers have access to improved metadata and new tools as they search through and analyze the General Social Survey (GSS) and the American National Election Studies (ANES). The two-year project, named Metadata Portal for the Social Sciences, is supported by a collaborative research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
