EBSCO Adds Databases

EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) has added content from Arabic content service provider Al Manhal. This includes ebooks, e-journal, e-report, and e-dissertation databases. Information Today brought this news to our attention in their article, “EBSCO Discovery Service Adds Al Manhal Metadata.”

These new databases contain peer-reviewed and copyright-protected publications from 205 Arabic publishers. The databases also feature full-text searching and contextual linking.

Al Manhal concentrates primarily on ten subject areas: political science and international relations; business and economics; social sciences; law; language and literature; history; geography and biography; Islamic jurisprudence; Islam and other disciplines; and specialized Islamic and education sciences.

With any database project, it is important to remember the value of a solid taxonomy. How the content is classified impacts the findability of your data. Professionals should look for an experienced builder of solid standards-based taxonomies to associate content for appropriate machine-assisted indexing. Access Innovations can provide solutions that are ANSI compliant.
