The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS) is once again offering educational opportunities through their “Lunch and Learn” webinar series. The next one is scheduled for September 27, 2016 and the topic will be: Beware! The Story of Predatory Open Access.
Predatory open access publishers are those which exploit the author-pays model for their own profit. Typically, these publishers have a low article acceptance threshold, with a false-front or non-existent peer review process, affecting content providers across the globe.
Leading this webinar will be Katie Sullivan, Product Manager, Flipster, at EBSCO Information Services.
Attendees will learn how resources such as Beall’s List and more can help determine quality of content, and the formula that EBSCO uses to assess quality. Katie will also discuss trends in open access publishing and preventative measures that are being established to ensure quality for future publishing.
Join Lunch & Learn with NFAIS on the fourth Tuesday every other month to spur new thinking, highlight industry trends and new technologies, and find creative solutions to today’s challenges.
Lunch & Learn events are free for NFAIS members. Non-members are welcome to attend at $65 for individual registration or $175 for unlimited group registration.
