Semantic terminology used to be considered the new thing in technology vocabulary. However, there appears to be a decrease in usage. This interesting information came to us from DATAVERSITY in their article, “2017 Trends for Semantic Web and Semantic Technologies.”
There’s no denying the importance of the technologies, standards, concepts, and collaborations that define the Semantic Web. This includes all that is affiliated with it or grown out of it.
As everyone begins to make predictions as to what 2017 will bring us, let’s first look backward. The past year noted not only the diminished use of semantic terminology; linked data also joined the less-popular kids in the front of the bus.
It is important to note that just because the terminology seems less high profile, the technology itself is going strong. Semantic technologies are an essential enabler for many processes and products. The Semantic Web and semantic technologies and techniques will continue to propel the industry forward.
