Genomics is identifying the factors that makes some people more susceptible to Alzheimer’s and other aging-related cognitive impairments. Regardless of the root cause, dementias are usually irreversible. Machines can learn, but can they teach us? DATAVERSITY brought this interesting information to us in their article, “Using Cognitive Computing to Prevent Human Cognitive Decline.”
Some claim that cognitive computing tools, which include artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science—might help healthy people to sharpen their intellectual skills. Artificial intelligence games are one example because they improve along with you, building up your problem solving abilities and improving your cognition. If we can use cognitive computing to reduce the onset and severity of aging-related dementias, we can significantly improve people’s quality of life.
