The volume of papers emerging from the world’s universities is increasing on a daily basis. Estimates are as high as 10,000 new papers being published every day. This information came to us from the DZone in their article, “How Automation Can Help Us Deal With the Data Deluge.”
A number of tools have been developed to help users manage the deluge. Semantic Scholar, Meta, and Meta Bus are the more well known, and all of them aim to help people find their content as efficiently as possible. Another product has been released that works along the same vein. Omnity is a semantic search platform that aims to find value in the connections between pieces of content.
The data deluge shows little sign of slowing down, so these tools and others to come will be increasingly important to help knowledge workers in their work.
