The Professional/Scholarly Publishing (PSP) Division of the Association of American Publishers Professional Development Committee (PDC) is offering a free educational and development opportunity: Learn, Connect, Grow: Free PSP Session on Women in PSP Publishing.
Mark your calendars today and plan to hear about the challenges and the benefits for women in PSP publishing on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 12:00-1:15 p.m.
More and more women are climbing the ranks of scholarly publishing, an industry distinguished by a majority female workforce, a progressive culture, and a stubborn glass ceiling. Industry veterans Jeri Wachter (William Andrew) and Susan Spilka (Wiley, CHORUS) will lead a panel discussion on gender equity issues, featuring: Bamini Jayabalasingham (Elsevier); Susan King (Rockefeller University Press); Wendy Newsham (Mary Ann Liebert); and Simone Taylor.
The panelists will share their observations about navigating professional pathways in the scholarly publishing community, with its unique opportunities and challenges. They’ll draw on their own experiences to provide guidance to the audience, and will touch on topics such as work/life balance, professional training & development, mentoring/coaching, networking, career growth, workplace & meeting behaviors, and compensation negotiation.
