A new web-based, searchable directory of health applications is being released to the 800+ general practitioners in Tasmania that will allow them to prescribe digital health solutions for patients electronically. This interesting information came to us from Pulse +IT in their article, “Prescription for digital health: guide to health apps for general practices.”

Digital health solutions are offered in a variety of ways through health applications. This particular one – the Digital Health Guide – includes hundreds of applications along with loads of supplemental information, i.e. condition or disease target, pricing model, etc. This tool helps health providers close the gap between them and engaged patients.

It could easily be viewed as a library of health applications that can increase patient engagement and broaden patients’ roles in their own health care.
