Enterprise data management is getting more attention these days. As everyone works to make their business more efficient, the value of data is becoming more and more apparent. This interesting information came to us from CIO Review in their article, “Data Lake Librarians.”
Data should be treated as an asset. Applying non-invasive data governance, improving the quality of data, and approaching the management of data from a big picture perspective, not only improves the value of the asset, it also lessens the risks and tightens the security.
A data lake is a storage repository that holds a large amount of raw data in its native format until it is needed. Data lakes will have tens of thousands of tables/files and billions of records. Even worse, this data is unstructured and widely varying. A data lake is like a library and it needs its own librarian to manage and find data in multiple formats.
