Cisco and Interpol are working together to share threat data around cyber crime activities. This news came from ZDNet in their article, “Cisco, Interpol team up to share cybercriminal threat data.”
This new collaboration is jointly addressing today’s cyber crime that is affecting consumers and businesses more and more. Severe data breaches are news more often than we should be comfortable with. It results in the loss of consumer data, which is easily transferred to a commodity with the right market and the right players. With sophisticated ransomware software, the data is held in demand for blackmail payments.
Combining the skills of a technical giant like Cisco and the resources that Interpol brings to the table, it can close the skills gap needed to address cyber security. Interpol has a history of reaching out to technical organizations for help in tracking down cyber criminals. They recognize the value in collaboration.
