The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) recently awarded DECISIVE ANALYTICS Corporation (DAC) a contract to implement semantic machine learning algorithms for the Advanced Geospatial Analytics program. PR Newswire brought this news to us in their article, “DECISIVE ANALYTICS to Implement Semantic Machine Learning Algorithms for NGA Advanced Geospatial Analytics.”
The plan is for DAC to learn an understanding of a region’s specific terrain and topographical features and then apply additional algorithms to detect change over time. DAC’s algorithms identify changes in a semantic feature space to provide context and meaning.
Within the field of data analytics, machine learning is used to devise complex models and algorithms that lend themselves to prediction. Predictive analytic models allow researchers, data scientists, engineers, and analysts to produce reliable, repeatable decisions and results, thus uncovering hidden insights through learning from historical relationships and trends in the data.
In this case, DAC’s machine learning technology will automatically identify significant geospatial changes allowing NGA to prioritize other investigative resources more effectively.
