This has been a tough year for my mother, my siblings and myself. We had to make the decision to find our mother a care facility that would be there for her medically and environmentally, while allowing her as much independence as possible for as long as possible. Throughout it all, I would never have thought about technology, emerging or otherwise, being able to to assist us. This interesting information came to us from the White House website in their article, “Emerging Technologies to Help Aging Americans Maintain Their Independence.”
Recently the Trump Administration released a new report, Emerging Technologies to Support an Aging Population, identifying innovations that have the potential to improve quality of life for all Americans, particularly those who live with physical or cognitive burdens due to aging or disability.
What I found most interesting was the reports inclusion of research and development needs to bring these innovations to fruition.
