Change is underway on how the industry acquires, shares and gains insights from scientific data in a vendor and platform independent data format, and common vocabulary and language that can capture the needed information for true exploration of scientific data. PR Web brought this news to our attention in their article, “A Major Milestone in Digital Transformation for the Pharmaceutical Industry With the Release of Allotrope™ Data Model Version 1.”

The Allotrope Foundation recently released the first version of an Allotrope™ Data Model (ADM), completing the phased release of the Allotrope™ Framework for standardizing scientific data and its context, and reaching a major milestone in their journey.

Ontologies are a set of concepts and categories in a subject area or domain that shows their properties and the relationships between them.

The Allotrope Foundation© Ontologies (AFO) include taxonomies and ontologies. These establish the basis of a controlled vocabulary and its relationships. This is needed to both describe and execute measurements in the lab on analytical instruments, as well data interpretation.
