NASA has officially released the 2020 NASA Technology Taxonomy. This very interesting news came to us from Space Ref in their article, “Notice of Release of the 2020 NASA Technology Taxonomy.”
The Technology Taxonomy provides a structure for articulating the technology development disciplines needed to enable future NASA missions. This update to the previous structure uses a technology discipline-based approach that aligns like-technologies independent of their application within the NASA mission portfolio.
Like all good taxonomies, this one serves as a common technology communication tool across the agency and with its partners in other government agencies, academia, industry and around the world.
Consistency is so important in every aspect of business – even space.
It is important to remember the value of a solid taxonomy and its role in the search process. How the content is classified impacts the findability of your data. Professionals should look for an experienced builder of solid standards-based taxonomies to associate content for appropriate machine-assisted indexing. Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients develop ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
