Synaptica and Ontotext have announced that GraphDB has been selected by Synaptica as the preferred original equipment manufacturer (OEM) database engine to be embedded with all Graphite systems. This news came to us from PR Newswire in their article, “Ontotext and Synaptica join forces with a shared product roadmap to speed up the development of Enterprise Knowledge Graphs.”
Graphite provides a collaboration platform for the centralized development and governance of enterprise controlled vocabularies including ontologies and taxonomies. It is a highly scalable and reliable resource description framework (RDF) graph database with a workbench of tools for data visualization, reconciliation, analytics and semantic search.
A controlled vocabulary is an organized arrangement of words and phrases used to index content and/or to retrieve content through browsing or searching. It typically includes preferred and variant terms and has a defined scope or describes a specific domain.
Controlled vocabularies such as those in a taxonomy, thesaurus, and ontology, are the main terminological resources that play a key role in developing the information architecture for online portals and search platforms.
Taxonomies provide the hierarchical categorization and classification of content into subject categories and also help to categorize and classify products and brands represented in online directories and product catalogs.
