Exploration into emerging technologies for clean and efficient energy production has begun with a collaborative effort. This interesting topic came to us from Business World in their article, “India, Finland Explore Opportunities To Collaborate In Emerging Technologies In Efficient Energy Production.”
India and Finland have begun meeting on research and innovation for green projects under EU’s ‘Horizon 2020’ programme. The 27-member bloc and India’s Department of Biotechnology (DBT) have identified five areas for collaboration between researchers and innovators of India and Europe.
DBT will co-fund projects in several areas including clean, affordable and secure energy; industry for a clean and circular economy; and biodiversity and ecosystem services. The EU delegation stated that the five calls are part of the last and largest call launched by the European Union under its research and innovation programme with a €1 billion budget.
India is relying on technology as it seeks to achieve sustainable development goals. With rapid urbanization, India is keen to ensure quality of life and governance in cities and towns. Given India’s transformational agenda, there are many opportunities for Finland. Both countries have economies based on technology and innovation, successful startup ecosystems and have the ability to adopt new technologies.
