A data governance policy will set standards for privacy and access to data, which will ensure an organization maintains high-quality data and provides more trusted data for analysis. Scientists and government officials have been working to forecast the spread and growth of the COVID-19 virus since the first observed cases were identified. Model predictions that were launched on the number of infected in the United States was curbed by the number of available tests and the limited testing criteria to critical patients. All this data was valuable, but it was missing one important element: data governance.
How can we enforce proper data governance standards including data quality for responsible data reporting? How can those in the data community collectively ensure consistent reporting for future global pandemics?
