Researchers in Shanghai and the United States have created a generative adversarial network (GAN)-based portrait creation system that lets users build new faces with previously unattainable levels of control over specific features. This creative application of semantic technology has a Photoshop-style interface. This interesting information came to us from Mark Tech Post in their article, “AI Researchers From ShanghaiTech and UC San Diego Introduce SofGAN: A Portrait Image Generator with Dynamic Styling.”
A user can create realistic pictures using semantic segmentation elements, but this element can also be produced directly over existing photographs.
Though this is a different use for semantic technology than information science, it is refreshing to see creativity driving innovation. Most organizations have little knowledge of how artificial intelligence (AI) systems make the decisions they do.
Data Harmony is Access Innovations’s AI suite of tools that leverages explainable AI for efficient, innovative and precise semantic discovery of new and emerging concepts to help find the information you need when you need it. Through our classification and indexing engine, Data Harmony provides concept identification and extraction to recommend terms and complete your semantic model.
