Tonight I was doing laundry while my husband was watching television in the other room. I am used to hearing words like military, marcupial, or wooly mammoth coming from his preferred viewing channels -- History, Discovery, or PBS. It took me a few minutes to realize what I was hearing sounded way too familiar to my world. Words like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and semantic technology came wafting through the house. I soon discovered the program was a NOVA feature, "Smartest Machine on Earth" on our local PBS channel.

Microsoft SharePoint's collaboration tools has made it possible to manage the documents and other data with flexibility. However, this flexibility also presents some challenges on how to store sufficient content to meet the needs and still minimize discoverable content.

The two giants of social media have always been Facebook and Twitter. A recent change on Facebook's part looks an awful lot like a Twitter tradition. Looking to improve its search and indexing capabilities, Facebook is now adding the hashtag symbol. Admittedly, many users have brought that habit with them from Twitter but for it to be embraced by the rival giant is interesting, to say the least.

With just over a year and a half left until the October 1, 2014 deadline, a recent survey showed that 74.6% of the respondents are only 25% or less completed in their ICD-10 implementations.

The MzTEK has coordinated an art commission titled, “Data as Culture.” MzTek’s goal is to provide a learning community in technology and arts for women.
