People talk about different kinds of vocabularies. The differences usually have to do with the structure, or lack thereof. Sometimes, people refer to “flat lists”. These are one-level lists with no hierarchical structure. They can be uncontrolled or controlled lists. An uncontrolled list is a simple, flat structure. EBSCO and Wilson Merger

EBSCO Publishing has merged with the H.W. Wilson Company to improve discovery services for libraries. The “win-win” is that EBSCO databases will have enhanced indexing because the Wilson controlled vocabularies will be integrated into EBSCO's controlled vocabularies. Subscribers of Wilson databases will be able to search the EBSCO Discovery Service for all Wilson indexing, abstracts, and full text.
