A new agreement between OCLC and EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) will create more value for libraries that subscribe to services from OCLC and EBSCO. Among other benefits that this partnership brings, libraries will be able to use EBSCO Discovery Service to facilitate interlibrary loan (ILL) via OCLC.

London’s Imperial War Museum is renovating its technology infrastructure to take advantage of the benefits of digital storage. As part of the process, they implemented a Front Porch Digital SAMMAsolo. The SAMMAsolo system, which incorporates a SAMMAcleaner, is a compact, single-stream appliance that automatically migrates content from videotape to digital files in multiple formats while also monitoring and quality-controlling the process. The migration preserves source time code and links indexing and technical metadata.

Every day, names, numbers, dates, addresses, and other unstructured data are added to the Web. Since it doesn't follow any standard formatting, this data is useless to most computers. Machines can't readily grasp concepts such as "middle school" or "junior high," let alone distinguish how they're related…at least until now.
