VMware Announces New Zimbra Appliance

August 17, 2010 – Claiming to be a global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop all the way to the cloud, VMware is no stranger to the field. Designed to simplify and reduce cost, the program is run via the VMware vSphere platform.

MarketWatch shared the announcement in their article, “VMware Unveils Zimbra Appliance and Makes All Zimbra Products Available to VMware Customers and Partners”. The Zimbra Appliance is slated to be the next generation e-mail and collaborating solution and will provide the end user with a personal and team cloud. Administrators and data centers will also be included in this coverage. Also included within the scope are claims of dynamic provisioning and scalability, high availability, backup, and disaster recovery. No information as of yet of any testing or long term results. New gadgets are fancy, but in the long run you should stick with a proven performer for your specific needs.
