September 17, 2010 – An upcoming webinar that might be of interest to our readers is “It’s Only as Good as the Metadata: Improving OpenURL and Knowledgebase Quality” on October 13, 2010.
The OpenURL is entwined with modern information services supplied by libraries, resource providers, and system vendors. The users and constituents rely on the accuracy and dependability of OpenURLs to bring information within easy reach. Often the services powered by OpenURLs can be brought low quickly by one or more errors within the citation data and/or the OpenURL encoding itself, leaving the users puzzled and many of us wondering if anyone is keeping watch over the accuracy and dependability of OpenURLs.
This webinar will ask these tough questions and address other issues of OpenURL accuracy and the applications of the OpenURL standard (ANSI/NISO Z39.88). Sounds interesting. Obviously, we are supportive of standards since Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients generate ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
