October 20, 2010 – Google has unveiled version 6.8 of the new Google Search Appliance (GSA) for enterprises. This latest release offers customizable search functionality for an intranet or web site.
CIO News brought this piece of information to our attention in their article, “Google Updates Search Appliance for Businesses.” New features of this release include Cloud Connect, for searches that are integrated with Google Apps, Site Search, and Twitter, and People Search, for searching profile information related to a business’s employees. Google has pointed to studies showing that information-based workers waste as much as 25 percent of their time on work that could be more efficient if they had better search. That alone is incentive for employers to look for improved technology.
