January 4, 2011 – The 2011 annual conference for the American Society for Indexing (ASI), “Providential Transformation,” will take place in Providence, Rhode Island on April 28-30. You do not need to be a member of ASI to attend.
The Open Press brought this news to our attention in their post, “The American Society for Indexing Announces Plans for its 2011 Annual Conference in Providence.” The conference is designed for indexers, librarians, abstractors, editors, publishers, database producers, data searchers, product developers, technical writers, academic professionals, researchers, readers, and others concerned with indexing.
The event will feature two nationally known keynote speakers, as well as an array of workshops and seminars for all skill levels. Erin McKean, co-founder of Wordnik, is one of the event’s keynote speakers. Prior to working at the online dictionary, Erin was editor-in-chief for American Dictionaries at Oxford University Press. She will focus on the transition from paper to online. Joshua Tallent is the eBook guru behind the scenes at KindleFormatting.com, and the other keynote speaker for the event. Joshua will provide us with a perspective on one of the most challenging technical areas of transformation that indexers face.
Further information about ASI and the conference is available at www.asindexing.org.
