March 3, 2011 – The next enterprise edition of Java is progressing at Oracle, who is reported to be considering improvements for cloud computing, REST Web services, and other capabilities.
InfoWorld brought this news to our attention in their article, “Java EE 7 work focusing on the cloud.” Capabilities for deploying cloud computing applications and infrastructures will be key to the next release. Java EE 7 is due in 2012 and will be the basis for how to make Java EE relevant for the cloud.
According to Oracle, the upgrade also will feature significant developments focusing on JavaServer Faces, for building server-side user interfaces; the Web tier, Java persistence; and JAX-RS. Java EE builds on Java SE and is geared to enterprise-level Java computing.
Cloud computing is expected with new technology releases these days. They are no longer considered features.
