March 4, 2011 – Dexetra, a software development company, has launched the first “life database” application. This new product, named Friday, automates the process of building a self-database with semantic technology.

We found this interesting news on sify finance.com in their article, “Kochi IT firm launches life database application.” Friday creates a semantic map of activities that the users do on their phone and identifies the places they visit. This enables users to recreate the information they seek. A smart search algorithm was incorporated to make the data findable spontaneously. The database building process happens real-time and requires little user input. And to retrieve information from Friday, you just ask a question via voice or text. Kind of like the computer on Star Trek?
