There is a lot of talk about data, the massive volumes of it and the speed at which it is multiplying. In this particular case, healthcare data is under the limelight – mHealth in particular. It is important to remember that data includes metadata ontologies, semantics and metrics, as well as their standards.
This post was inspired by the Forbes article, “Musings from the Mobile Health Summit with Carol McCall.” One of the biggest IT challenges being faced by everyone, healthcare and otherwise, involves the management of large and ever increasing amounts a data. Every aspect of that data should be reviewed for thoroughness and effective use. Sometimes data is assumed to be the same regardless of the source and format, and that false assumption can create storage issues as well as poor findability.
