HCL Technologies has been chosen by Blue Shield of California to utilize their iCRM web based tool to complete its ICD-10 remediation to meet the compliance deadline of October 2013. Of course, now we know that the October 2013 deadline may well be changed.

Market Watch brought this news to our attention in their article, “HCL Wins ICD 10 Transformation Deal With Blue Shield of California.” This extended period should give them plenty of time to prepare for this monstrous task. The new ICD-10 has five times the number of diagnosis codes of ICD-9.
