OpenSFS is a non-profit organization committed to maintaining the Lustre file system as a viable, open technology for the entire high performance computing (HPC) community. Three Lustre vendors were recently asked about the future of this open source file system.
This information was found on HPC Wire in their article, “Lustre Vendors Consider File System’s Future.” There was much discussion about the current limits, and one topic was the limitations of the single metadata server. There is apparently plans for improving metadata performance on a single server, which was good to hear.
