SequelMed, Inc. has released an upgrade to compliance with ANSI 5010 for its EMR, EHR and Practice Management software products. This update will enable users to send HIPAA 5010 compliant claims as per the requirements set forth by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
MarketWatch brought this news to our attention in their article, “SequelMed Announces ANSI 5010 Upgrade for Its Users.” SequelMed already permits the dual use of existing standards. The use of HIPAA 4010 remains in effect due to a handful of EDI contractors who are still not ready to process claims in 5010 format. Ironically, the update does support ICD-10 codes, which is great since we are dealing with a new deadline now.
The new ICD-10 coding classification system will have five times the number of codes to use for billing reimbursement. Access Innovations’ M.A.I. machine-assisted indexing system and specialists in complex coding, tagging, and indexing can minimize the risk of coding errors with proper training and quality assurance. Many widely used tagging systems lack the user-friendly interface and may not implement a rigorous ANSI-compliant coding subsystem. Access Innovations’ solutions are ANSI-compliant and implement state-of-the-art technology to speed tagging and reduce errors.
