Findability is Dependent on Access

Healthline Networks’ health reference site — Healthline.com — has launched its Consumer Engagement Platform. This new site enables health insurers and businesses to offer members and employees contextual searching of health data from electronic health records and medical claims.

This topic was brought to our attention by eWeek in their article, “Healthline Semantic Search Platform Gives Context to Health Care Data.” The platform delivers contextually relevant health data to patients and allows physicians to get clinical decision support. Converting the data into electronic health records (EHRs) is the first step in accessing powerful databases and making them work for the user.

Access to data sources is important for comprehensive search results and true findability. Semantic technology provides another enhancement to search by using common terminology and natural language processing to make the query process much more user-friendly.
