New frameworks and the seemingly endless clouds have made it very easy to collect large amounts of data. It has become more affordable, and the data is multiplying faster than rabbits on fertility drugs. Eventually, though, big data is going to have to show some return on investment.
IT Business Edge brought this news to our attention in their article, “Making Big Data Really Accessible.” The IT professionals at Splunk, a provider of an open source tool for indexing and searching machine data, are keeping this in mind. They believe that a more cost-effective approach to making all the data more accessible to the entire enterprise is possible. Their newest product release, Splunk 4.3, is one attempt.
