Xerox was chosen by the Department of Homeland Security to convert the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ records to digital form. This interesting news was found on GovConWire in their article, “Xerox to Digitize Immigration Records for DHS; Bill Cornelius Comments.”
Xerox will work to clone large volumes of immigration data and digitize the images for migration to the government’s Enterprise Document Management System.
The important factor of digital archiving is consistency, and what provides consistency? Standards. Of course we are all about standards. Access Innovations is one of a very small number of companies able to help its clients generate ANSI/ISO/W3C-compliant taxonomies.
In this information-based society we live in, we have come to expect findability, and technology is making it possible.
