Box recently announced that it will be making the documents stored in its cloud storage system smarter. They give the credit to the metadata. TechCrunch brought this interesting information to our attention in their article, “Box Will Add Metadata To Give More Context To Cloud Documents.”
This may not seem all that important, but it is a good example of how metadata can be put to useful purposes. Documents can now include more context than just a file name and date stamp. It will also allow companies and products using Box documents to create workflows around that metadata.
Organizations are constantly facing the challenges of handling data, especially in relation to storage, size, and security. Any effort to make that process more dynamic and comprehensive is worth a look.
